Pithe Puli - Patishapta - Sugar free

Key Ingredients

  • For batter: 1 cup maida or refined floor
  • 1/2 cup Sooji (semolina)
  • 1/4 cup Rice flour
  • 1-2 cups Milk
  • Cooking Oil
  • For filling: 3 cups of grated coconut and khoya
  • Any sugarfree- low calorie sweetener to taste sweet
  • 3-4 Green cardamoms

Dish Preparation:

A. Filling preparation:

  • In a wok mix grated coconut or khoya with sugar or jaggery and place it over low flame. If making with khoya, add little milk.
  • Add cardamom in it.
  • Keep stirring the mixture till it gets sticky. Keep aside to cool. The process may take about 20-25 minutes.
B. Pithe Puli – Patishapta preparation:
  • Take the maida, sooji and rice flour in a bowl.
  • To it, add milk and mix well. Ensure to avoid lump formation and prepare a smooth batter. Rest the mixture for an 15-20 mins.
  • Take a non-stick pan and brush little oil over low- medium flame. Pour a thin layer of the mixture with a bowl and spread round shape.
  • Put the filling lengthwise at the center of it and roll the bread. Cook till the colour is light brown.
  • Place it on the plate and Serve hot or cold.
